Eagle Cliff Falls near Montour Falls, NY

Eagle Cliff Falls at Montour Falls, NY near Watkin's Glenn.  This falls is one of my favorites of the many majestic falls in this area.   The first time I searched out this falls, I was awe struck after climbing the ladder and following the trail up to the main falls which is a hidden treasure.  It is located in Havana Glen Park on Havana Glen Road just off Route 14 and is a half mile south of Montour Falls.  The park is privately own and has camping and picnic facilities right by the lower falls.  The entry fee is $1.

View from the parking lot of the lower falls.

Upperville Falls showing effects of the hot, dry 2012 summer

Upperville Falls near Symrna, NY is also showing the effects of our lack of rain in New York State.  The water level  is the lowest I've ever seen it.  July 2012.
Just a little stream of water at Upperville Falls.

Even a small waterfalls is refreshing to look at and listen to.

This Year's Pansies.

A basket of pansies that I have been enjoying this year.

And this year's other basket of pansies.  Pansies are one of my favorite flowers.

Mud turtle visited our yard

This is the scene we found in our yard yesterday.  The cat found this huge mud turtle most interesting.
When we returned from a trip downtown, it was crossing the road.  As I got nearer, it just stopped and flattened right out on the road, head and all.  Being an animal lover, I rescued it by picking it up and taking it to the other side where it could go down into the swamp.  Let me tell you, mud turtles are not docile.  It showed it's annoyance by thrashing it's head back and forth forcefully all the time I was carrying it.
