A basket of pansies that I have been enjoying this year.

And this year's other basket of pansies.  Pansies are one of my favorite flowers.

Mud turtle visited our yard

This is the scene we found in our yard yesterday.  The cat found this huge mud turtle most interesting.
When we returned from a trip downtown, it was crossing the road.  As I got nearer, it just stopped and flattened right out on the road, head and all.  Being an animal lover, I rescued it by picking it up and taking it to the other side where it could go down into the swamp.  Let me tell you, mud turtles are not docile.  It showed it's annoyance by thrashing it's head back and forth forcefully all the time I was carrying it.

Verona Beach State Park Family collage

I love collages of family get togethers.  This one was done from my birthday gathering at Verona Beach State Park, Oneida Lake in 2007.    It shows my daughter, Susan, with her husband, Dave and me together (lower left).  My son, Paul was reading in the glorious lake breeze (upper left)

3 Oneida Lake winter scenes

No problem,  I didn't plan to anyway!  Look closely way out on the ice at Oneida Lake to see several ice fishermen.

A very popular swimming area in summer, this is Sylvan Beach ice and snow covered.

The ice was thinning and melting.  A group of Canada geese are hanging out on the ice.
